The Madison County Economic Development
Corporation was created in 1997 by Madison County and
the City of Madisonville to promote industrial and
commercial development in Madison County.
The MCEDC is the owner of the Business Park located on
the frontage road to Interstate HWY45 (1 mile from SH21).
The Industrial Park contains water, sewer, gas, electric,
telephone, and fiber optic utilities. There are 44 acres in
the park that are available for development.
Madison County is centered in an area bounded by the
metropolitan areas of Dallas-Fort Worth, 140 miles north;
Austin, 140 miles west, Bryan-College Station 36 miles
southwest; and Houston, 90 miles south. Approximately,
16,000,000 persons inhabit this portion of Texas and also
a large part of the Louisiana population, a combined total
of 18 million people, reside within two and one-half hours
driving time of Madison County - Madisonville, and the
area is expected to experience substantial economic
growth during the next ten years.
Madison County (pop. 12,900) - Madisonville (pop. 4,159)
is located in Madison County. The area is classified as
East Central Texas, about 110 miles north of the Houston
shipping channel. County boundaries are formed by the
Navasota River on the west and the Trinity River on the
east.
Regional air service offers two options. For larger air
service needs, Coulter Field is located north of the City
of Bryan and provides a recently completed 4,000 foot
runway. Coulter Field offers all types of services for the
private aircraft owner including on-site maintenance;
covered hangers or tie-down facilities; and all types of
fuel, including automotive, Jet-A and 100 low lead.
Additional services include flight instruction, courtesy can
and vehicle rental. Air charter is available for passenger,
cargo, priority documents, hazardous materials and air
ambulance. For smaller needs, Madisonville Municipal
offers a 3202 X 50 foot runway 3-miles west of town.
When it comes to year-round recreation, the greater
Madison County area is one of the best regions Texas has
to offer. There are plenty of opportunities to enjoy the
warm summers and mild winters of Texas. Hunting is a
popular activity, and the seasons reach almost year
round. From white tailed deer, turkey, wild hogs, water
foul, rabbit and so on, there is always an abundance of
game. For fishermen, a large lake sits within the city limits,
with boat ramp access and piers. Out in the county itself,
there are numerous rivers, ponds, and creeks that provide
many satisfying hours of angling. For family-oriented fun,
the county area has numerous tennis courts, public and
private swimming pools, a beautiful and challenging golf
course, softball and baseball fields, places to walk and jog,
and parks with playground equipment. Oak Ridge
Country Club offers a 9-hole golf course, tennis courts,
swimming pool, pro shop and more in a relaxed
environment for the whole family.
